How Allen Saved the Radio Station (PDF)
How Allen Saved the Radio Station
This is how Allen saved the radio station
all them years ago
his courage and his determination
let the music flow
we're the ones who benefit daily
from the deed that he did do
Allen saved the radio station
won't you buy him a drink or two
It was many years ago before the FM dial was lit
the University of Calgary had an awful split
the students' voice was the radio club - many wanted to join
but the executive in the upstairs office said it costed too much coin
well Allen heard via the grapevine that that executive upstairs
were planning on bringing in a locksmith for some of those midnight repairs
Allen hatched a brilliant plan to uncover the truth
camp out secretly overnight in the broadcasting booth
sure enough at 2 am that old locksmith did arrive
Allen didn't make a sound 'til well after 5
by then the locks all had been changed, the evil had been done
but our man Allen on the inside was ready to have some fun
at 9 am Allen fired up the old BX-87
made sure the speakers on the top of Mac Hall were turned up to 11
said a few words to the effect that 'students aren't so dumb'
then we all heard Pete Seeger singing 'We Shall Overcome'
and THAT'S how
Allen saved the radio station
all them years ago
his courage and his determination
let the music flow
we're the ones who benefit daily
from the deed that he did do
Allen saved the radio station
won't you buy him a drink or two
